Our Founder’s Story

“Do you remember the first time you visited a new country? I do. I was nine years old and I left my home of Nigeria and moved to America to be with my mother. The trip was long and scary to be honest. I remember the look of confident, proud concern on my father’s face as I turned back to say goodbye to him one more time. I remember the look of joy and confusion as I ran to a random woman who wasn’t my mom at the airport. Sleep deprivation does things to the mind of a young nine year old. When I finally found my mom and we drove to my new home in the car, I remember looking out the window and thinking to myself , “there is a whole world out there to explore. This is just the beginning.” (Yes, I was a weirdly philosophical kid.) Today, I am building Urban Hideout to make sure as many people can say those words I said to myself and then go out and live it. The best part: I get to do it with my friends because that’s what this life is about - creating and experiencing life with those you love.
